Springville Happenings: Support group meeting start this week

Griefshare, a Christ centered grief support group will begin Wednesday, Jan. 11. It will be held at Clearbranch UMC in Argo/Trussville from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Room W107. Springville Youth Association Soccer registration for Spring will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, February 4 and 11 at the SMS Auditorium from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The St. Clair County Master Gardeners Association will host a “Lunch and Learn” session on garden herbs at the First United Methodist Church in Springville on March 25 at noon. Contact the St. Clair County Extension Office to register at (205) 338-9416.

Camp Utopia in Springville will host the 5K Run, “Night Light 5K @ Utopia” on April 21 at 7 p.m. benefitting missions for orphans in Columbia. Register at www.active.com

The Springville Library hosts storytime every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. A story, a craft and snacks are included.

From the St. Clair County EMA: Road Closure at Muckleroy Creek Bridge. AL State Hwy 11 from Whitney Junction/AL Hwy 231 to State Route 23, Springville to close to thru traffic beginning on Monday, Dec. 12 for bridge work. Alternate Route: I-59. Local traffic can utilize Huff Lane to Crawford Cove to State Rd 23 and also Pinedale Rd to 23. Timeline: More than one year. This notice is provided from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills.
