Springville Happenings: Teen seminar this Sunday

Dec. 27 was a sad day for the surrounding communities due to the passing of Mrs. Virginia Grass, who had dementia and went missing Christmas night. Several agencies and volunteers from around the county assisted in her search, including the CERT Team. The St. Clair Sheriff’s Department offers a bracelet that is worn by individuals at risk of wandering that contains a tracking device. For more information, contact Sgt. Shepherd Counseling, LLC is offering a free seminar on “Teens & Sexual Behavior” with speaker Sally Self MA, LPC, Sunday, Jan. 8 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Spring Valley Baptist Church. Seating is limited, register at shepherdcounselingllc.com.

Griefshare, a Christ centered grief support group, will begin Wednesday, Jan. 11. It will be held at Clearbranch UMC in Argo/Trussville from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Room W107. Springville Youth Association Soccer registration for Spring will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and 11th at the SMS Auditorium from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Storytime at Springville Library are Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and include a story, craft and snacks.

Alternate Route: I-59. Local traffic can utilize Huff Lane to Crawford Cove to State Rd 23 and also Pinedale Rd to 23. Timeline: More than one year. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills.
