Springville Vista: Record voter turnout last Tuesday

On Nov. 8, the voting precinct in Springville had a record turnout in the Presidential election with 3,980 votes cast.

Congratulations to the SMS Cheerleaders for the winning St. Clair County championship.

The City of Springville’s Annual Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. The theme this year is “Santa’s Toyland.” Contact City Hall to participate or go to springvillealabama.org.

Homestead Hollow will host “Christmas in the Country” Nov. 11 – 13. Tickets are available at the gait and are $7 for adults, $3 for kids ages 3-12 and free for kids under 2. Parking is free. One Eighty Church will host “Gingerbread Lane” Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting the HOPE cancer care ministry.

Zaxby’s in Springville will donate 10 percent of all sales to Springville Elementary School, Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 4 – 8 p.m.

On Nov. 17, the First Annual “After Hours Family Event” will take place at 106 Legacy Parkway from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. including GoNow Doctors, Big Springs Dental and Vision Alabama. There will be food and fun for the whole family.

Turkey Shoots will take place at Sportsman Lake Nov. 19. Sign-in starts at 8 a.m. All ages welcome.

The Springville Fire Department is taking orders for holiday turkeys and hams. The deadline to order is Nov. 21. To order call, (205) 467-2703. Turkeys are $45 and hams are $40 for a half and $60 for a whole.

The Springville Preservation Society will be selling Christmas Cards featuring the historical artwork of resident, Clay Allison from his “Paint the Town” series. All proceeds benefit the Springville Historical Society. Storytime at Springville Library are Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and include a story, craft and snacks.

Mathews Manor will host a grief recovery program Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. now through Dec. 6. The program is called “GriefShare” and is sponsored by Christ Community Church. Contact 467-6686 or go to springville.info.

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills.
