Springville Vista: Top tournament spots stolen by Springville residents

On Nov. 5 the Springville Anglers Fishing Team competed at Logan Martin Lake. Graham Davis placed first and Bradley Mueller placed second giving Springville the top two spots out of 170 anglers.

Christ Community Church will offer GriefShare’s “Surviving the Holidays” for those needing comfort and help coping with grief at the holidays. The event will be held Sunday, Nov. 6 from 4 – 5:30 p.m.

Zaxby’s in Springville will donate 10 percent of all sales to Springville Middle School, Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 4 – 8 p.m.

Turkey Shoots will take place at Sportsman Lake Nov. 12 and 19. Sign in starts at 8 a.m. All ages are welcome.

Schools will be out to observe Veterans Day this Friday, Nov. 11.

On Nov. 17, the First Annual “After Hours Family Event” will take place at 106 Legacy Parkway from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. including GoNow Doctors, Big Springs Dental and Vision Alabama. There will be food and fun for the whole family.

The City of Springville’s Annual Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 10 at 6p.m.. The theme this year is “Santa’s Toyland.” Contact City Hall to participate at springvillealabama.org.

One Eighty Church will host “Gingerbread Lane” Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 – 2 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting the HOPE cancer care ministry.

The Springville Preservation Society will be selling Christmas Cards featuring the historical artwork of resident, Clay Allison from his “Paint the Town” series. All proceeds benefit the Springville Historical Society. The cards include envelopes and can be previewed on the Springville Preservation Society’s Facebook page at facebook.com/springvillepreservation.

Storytime at Springville Library is held every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Snacks are provided along with a story and a craft.

The Springville Fire Department is taking orders for holiday turkeys and hams. The deadline to order is Nov. 21. To order call (205) 467-2703.Turkeys are $45 and hams are $40 for half and $60 for a whole.

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills.
