The message reiterated throughout the Pell City Board of Education, City Council and Mayoral Investiture was leadership.

While each of the elected officials would technically be considered leaders, those who spoke at the Nov. 7 event gave specific consideration to being strong leaders, both politically and ethically.

Council President James McGowan addressed the newly sworn-in City Council and mayor, and said leadership is key and stressed that working together is the best way to be good community leaders.

“I’m looking forward to working with the other members of the council,” Councilman Jason Mitcham said. “I think there’s a lot of great things in Pell City’s future, and we intend to lead this city the best we can.”

Speaking publicly for the first time as the Pell City Mayor, Bill Pruitt said to audience, “It’s you that inspire us to do more. You are the leaders of Pell City. And, it is you who have inspired us to serve.”

Pruitt’s comments came at the end of the council meeting after the officials were sworn in. During the meeting, McGowan was re-elected as council president, Jud Aversion was voted council president pro tempore and Brian Muenger was approved to continue as city manager.

“As we move forward, we will work together to lead Pell City to the best of our abilities,”Pruitt said. “I look forward to seeing what God has in store for this great community.”
