Springville Vista: Church to hold documentary screening

Springville Schools celebrated with the annual Homecoming Parade last Friday, Sept. 16. Citizens and students lined the streets and cheered on the Tigers who went on to defeat Curry 21 to 6.

Storytime at Springville Library is held every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Snacks are provided along with a story and a craft.

One Eighty Church will host the “Cruisin’ For Christ” Fourth Annual Car Show and Swap Meet, Sept 24 from 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. They will have food and music. Proceeds will help fund Celebrate Recovery, a Christian-based program that helps people with psychological conditions such as anxiety and addiction.

The Friends of Big Canoe Creek will host the film “River Dreams” at Springville UMC, Thursday, September 29 at 6 p.m. The event is free to the public. The Springville Wal-Mart will host “Cruise In For Children’s Hospital” sponsored by the Alabama SPEED Club as a charity Car Show. The crowd will get to vote for their favorite car, after 5:30 p.m. the votes will be counted and the winning car will receive a Wal-Mart gift card. Money will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham. The event will be Oct. 1 from 4:30 – 6 p.m.

The Saint Clair County 4-H Horse Club will meet Tuesday, September 27 at 5 p.m. at the St. Clair County Arena in Odenville. The Club is open to youth ages 9-18 who are interested in learning more about horses. Contact (205) 863-9931.

A golf tournament benefiting the Springville Recycling Center will be held Oct. 1 at 8:00 a.m. at the Heritage Golf Course in Oneonta, AL. The tournament is a four team scramble. Contact William Isley (205) 467-2849.

Springville Presbyterian Church will host St Catherine of Siena “A Woman For Our Times” play as a fundraiser for the preservation of the historical church. Tickets are priced at $17-37. The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills.
