Springville Vista: Preservation Society hosting another kids day this weekend

On July 21, the Springville Wal-Mart honored the Springville Police Department with cake and gifts as a show of community support for law enforcement.

The Springville Civil Air Patrol meets every Tuesday from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory. The age requirement is 12-18 years of age and adults may also join as senior members. Cadets learn leadership skills, aerospace, character development, as well as team work. Cadets also learn piloting skills. Longtime Springville chiropractor, Dr. Mark Dailey will continue to practice in Oneonta, but will be leaving Springville and chiropractor, Dr. Matt Woomer will begin practicing in Springville in the same location on Main Street.

The Mary Poppins play at the Springville Community Theater in the Springville Middle School Auditorium received rave reviews and hosted better than expected crowds.

On July 31, Faith Community Church hosted Movie Night at Big Springs Park complete with inflatables, popcorn and drinks.

The Springville Anglers Fishing Team will compete in the 2016 Bassmaster Costa National Championship Tournament in Kentucky Lake August 4.

The Springville Preservation Society hosted “Kids Day at The Museum” on July 28 and will be hosting again on August 4. The day is complete with characters based on local historical figures and games.

Springville Youth Sports Registration for Baseball, Softball and Soccer will be August 13 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Springville Sports Complex behind Wal-Mart.

Thursday, August 4, from 4 – 6 p.m. for grades K, 2nd and 4th.

Monday, August 8, from 4 – 6 p.m. for grades 1st, 3rd and 5th.

The Springville Splash Pad at Big Springs Park is a great place to have fun and stay cool. Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sundays 1 – 5 p.m. Admission for ages 4 and up is $1. For parties/groups or more information call (202) 467-2705.

The Springville Police Department is hosting a firearms safety class for the public. The cost of the class is $50, the fee includes firearms laws, weapon safety and weapon use. Must be 19 years of age or older and have a current pistol permit. Sign up at Springville City Hall or call (205) 467-6133.
