- Indiana Gov. Mike Pence appeared on stage with presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump at a rally in Westfield, Ind., late Tuesday. Trump was in Indiana for a fundraiser and for private meetings with Pence and other potential vice-presidential candidates.
Presumptive Republican Party presidential nominee Donald Trump ended weeks of speculation this morning by tweeting that he has selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate.
I am pleased to announce that I have chosen Governor Mike Pence as my Vice Presidential running mate. News conference tomorrow at 11:00 A.M.

To join Trump on the GOP’s presidential/vice presidential ticket, Pence withdrew today from the governor’s race by filing the necessary paperwork with the Indiana Secretary of State’s office.
Pence’s withdrawal from the race sets up a scramble in Republican circles to replace him as a candidate for governor on the November ballot.
With today’s deadline to withdraw from their races, Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb, U.S. Rep. Susan Brooks and U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita have done so, opening the way for them to seek the GOP nomination for governor of Indiana.
The 22-member Indiana Republican Party State Committee will have 30 days to replace Pence on the ballot.
The GOP candidate will run against Democrat John Gregg and Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson.
