A single-vehicle crash at 8 p.m., Monday, June 6, has claimed the life of a Springville man and seriously injured a passenger.

According to a release from ALEA, Jeremy Edward Walthall, 31, was killed when the 2005 Nissan Sentra he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Walthall was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jessica Nicole Maddox, 26, of Warrior was not restrained and suffered serious injuries. She was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. The crash occurred on Gallant Road three miles north of Ashville. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
