HGTV comes to Logan Martin

A couple of weeks ago, Nicole Anderson Walters found an episode description online that she thought she might never see. It was a blurb for an upcoming episode of HGTV’s Lakefront Bargain Hunt — an episode she starred in. And it was airing May 1.

In just over 100 words, the episode description summed up a four-day period in Nicole’s life that she will never forget. And now, she is finally able to share it with everyone.

The adventure started over a year ago, when HGTV first contact Nicole about the possibility of featuring her in an episode.

When Nicole first received an email from HGTV last year, she thought it was spam. Her curiosity was piqued when she began reading and the first couple of lines contained detailed information about her business and properties on Logan Martin Lake.

“They said they were interested in featuring me on an episode of the show and asked if I had any clients I thought would be interested,” Nicole said. “I instantly knew Steve and Roxann would be perfect, they have such great personalities.”

When Steve received Nicole’s call asking if they wanted to be filmed for the show, he immediately refused.

“I was reluctant at first, I’m not really someone who wants to be in the public like that,” Steve said.

When he told Roxann about the phone call, she was excited and convinced him that they could have so much fun getting to experience being on the show.

Nicole and the couple both went through video interviews with casting directors, and they passed. Filming began shortly thereafter. Since then, all three participants have been eagerly awaiting the release of the episode.

To film the episode, Nicole, Steve and Roxann were told to clear their schedules for four consecutive days. Each day filming lasted around 12 hours.

In preparation for the days of filming, Nicole had to choose which houses she would show the couple during filming. After making her selections, she had to get approval from each homeowner to allow their house to be on the show.

“Finding the properties to show is difficult, because waivers have t be signed by the homeowners and the HOA, if there is one,” Nicole said. “Karen Bain and Rita Foster were incredibly helpful with allowing me to use their listings.”

According to Nicole, being in front of a camera crew was a lot of fun for her. She is a regular on stage with the Pell City Players, so having an audience was not a problem for her. Having to recreate conversations was a little more difficult.

“I would be walking with them up to a house, telling them about it and the crew would make us re-take a scene because my back was to the camera or something,” Nicole said. “It was a little tricky to act natural if we had to re-take s part, but we had so much fun with it.”

The buyers had to adjust to the camera crew trailing along during the process, as well. According to Steve, they just acted like themselves and did their best to not get distracted by the cameras.

The additional complications of being filmed did not stop the couple from finding their dream lake house, though. Throughout the filming process, Nicole helped Steve and Roxann find their new vacation home. The hunt certainly not what the couple expected it to be when they first started out, but they definitely enjoyed the experience. Everyone will be given a glance into their adventure next week as the episode airs. The episode will air Sunday, May 1, on HGTV at 7 p.m.
