Students in Pell City High School’s visual arts, choir, band and theater programs will perform their collaborative show this week. The Fine Arts Department at the Pell City High School will host its second annual winter cabaret, after a successful winter show last year.

Back to Broadway: Thursday, Feb. 11 and Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. At CEPA.

Fine Arts Department Team Leader Kelly Whittington said the program was designed to showcase every part of the school’s arts program. Whittington said this year’s theme is “Back to Broadway,” and the event will feature theatre skits, show choir tunes, jazz band performances and an art show in the lobby.

“The theme was chosen because we have seen a lot of interest in Broadway, lately,” Whittington said. “The kids helped pick the theme, which is important since they put together their performances.”

Students are responsible for all performances, organization and art. The event is open to the public, and Whittington is hoping the community comes out to support the arts.

“The students have worked hard on this, they know they will have their work on display and be on stage singing, dancing, and playing their instruments,” Whittington said. “They are

really motivated and driven by wanting to put forth a good performance and represent fine arts.”

Whittington wants the show to display the department’s talented students and their accomplishments for the community. She said keep their creative juices flowing all year long gives them an opportunity to showcase their talents on stage.

“I am looking forward to seeing all their hard work come together,” Whittington said. “They’ve worked so hard on it and I can’t wait for the show.”

The event is a fundraiser for the school’s band, theatre, show choir and visual arts program. All ticket sales go directly to the fine arts programs.

The shows will be on Thursday, Feb. 11 and Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Pell City Center for Education and the Performing Arts (CEPA).
