Riverside bridge lane closure

Weather permitting, on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 9 a.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation will begin bridge repairs on the I-20 eastbound bridge over the Coosa River, near milepost 164.7, at Riverside.
Repairs will require the I-20 eastbound right lane to be closed in the area of the construction work for approximately 2-3 days.

All oversize loads (over 10’ wide), on I-20 eastbound must take US-231 (exit 158) southbound to SR-34, then eastbound on SR-34 to SR-77, then northbound on SR-77 to return to I-20 eastbound at (exit 168).
This detour will be in effect for approximately 36 hours. The exact time will depend on work progress and weather conditions.
Drivers are requested to consider alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
