Local schools and families ask for votes in 2015 Red Ribbon contest

Williams Intermediate is a participant in the National Family Partnership’s 30th Annual Red Ribbon Week photo contest. The participants decorate their homes and campuses to promote healthy living and a drug-free lifestyle. Each decoration will feature a red ribbon and should exemplify this year’s competition theme; “Respect Yourself. Be Drug Free.”
The schools involved need votes from the community help them win the grand prize, which is $1,00 for the school’s drug prevention program and an iPad for their family or classroom.
The National Family Partnership’s Red Ribbon Photo Contest is now in it’s fifth year. It is co-sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The photo contest’s purpose is to prevent drug use and educate students during the Red Ribbon Week and throughout the year.
“This contest was designed to provide a natural opportunity for parents and educators to talk to kids about drug abuse and prevention in a relaxed and fun way,” said NFP President Peggy Sapp. “We are asking everyone to participate by voting for their favorite entry to help support families and schools in spreading the drug free message to children.”
Voting end Nov. 18. To vote for your school, visit RedRibbon.org/vote and vote on your favorite entry. You may vote up to 10 times per 24 hours. A total of 20 winners will be announced Dec. 4, each receiving $1,000. You can find Williams Intermediate’s entry at here.
