On the day after what is being called the deadliest attack in France since WWII, the thoughts of American college football fans turned not just to the fate of their team, but to the fate of the French people.
At football games across the country, teams and even individual players paid tribute to the 129 lives lost Friday night in Paris in the series of coordinated terrorist attacks believed to have been perpetrated by ISIS.
In College Station, students hung a French flag on the side of Texas A&M’s 12th Man section of the stadium during the Aggies 41-17 win over Western Carolina.

The cleats worn by Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones in the Buckeyes 28-3 route of Big Ten rival Illinois featured a logo depicting the Eiffel Tower as part of a peace sign that went viral on social media Friday night.

But no gesture was more symbolic of America’s relationship with the country President Obama on Friday night called “our oldest ally” than the tribute paid by Army, which ran onto the field behind players bearing both the American and French flags.
