- Pell City Panthers
Spanish Fort 24, Pell City 10
Pell City fought hard early in the game and had a very impressive showing in a defensive battle with the second-ranked Toros last week, scoring on a Sergio Alvarez field goal midway through the first half which allowed the Panthers to go to the locker room tied 3-3 against a Spanish Fort team that averaged in excess of 44 points per game this season.
In an explosive third quarter, Spanish Fort’s Dee Thomas broke open several long runs, which allowed All-State quarterback Tyler Johnston to crack open Pell City’s secondary, completing three touchdown passes to wide receiver Logan Morgan. The Toros’ stifling defense did give up an 80-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Hudson Hughes to running back Christopher Lynch late in the third quarter.
The loss ended the season for Pell City, whose 4-7 record does not reflect the outstanding performance of the Panthers over the course of the season.
