John Patterson made a temporary move from Mobile to Leeds for business. During his time in the town, he met his now wife and not only fell in love with her, but also the small Alabama town. The couple decided it provided them with the perfect place to settle down and begin their life together.

Their livelihood came from John opening Patterson Pharmacy in 1966. It has remained open and serving the Leeds community ever since. John is still at the helm of his business, with the assistance of his family and faithful staff.

“We know our customers because we have been able to work with them for years,” Patterson said.

“In recent years, pharmacists have become responsible for a lot of counseling on medications and prescriptions,” Patterson said. “There is also a lot of red tape with insurance companies that customers have to deal with. We try to take that off their shoulders and handle all of that for them.”

The pharmacy is dedicated to giving back to the community that has given so much to them. They accomplish this through staying involved in community events that benefit local organizations and schools.

“Supporting the Leeds school system is very important to me,” Patterson said. “We do what we can to give back to the kids, as well as the whole community.”

John Patterson himself, has served in numerous leadership positions for the town. He was the president of the civic club and currently serves as a board member on the Leeds Water Board.

“I love it in Leeds because of the repertoire I have with the customers,” Patterson said. “These people have been my neighbors for years and the pharmacy is my way to help them.”
