Lincoln 37 Springville 13

The Lincoln High School football team used a huge second quarter to defeat Springville 37-13 on Friday night.

The Golden Bears scored early on a 35-yard pass from Zay Caldwell to Devonte Whiteside.

Springville scored to tie the game at 7-7 when quarterback Hunter Richardson escaped from a closing pocket, scrambled right, and threw a bullet to Jamison Worrell, who split Lincoln’s defense to run into the end zone to tie the game.

Lincoln was able to separate from Springville, scoring 23 more first-half points to close out the half with a 30-13 lead.

Week 9 Matchup: Springville (1-7) at #10 Mortimer Jordan (7-1)

Springville’s final regional game is a doozy, playing a ranked opponent and the most explosive offensive team in the region when they visit Mortimer Jordan on Friday.

The Blue Devils’ offense is led by senior Duncan Hodges, a 6’3” 220-pound college-prototype quarterback, who has accounted for more than 2,200 yards of offense this season. Hodges is able to spread the ball out all over the field, but his go-to receiver is Jacob Dean, who has received over 700 yards of Hodges’ passes this year. On the ground, it is a combination of running backs Kalin Stringer, Walker McCleney, Spencer Brown and Hodges, who have combined for over 1,600 yards rushing this year.
