SOLOMON “SONNY” EUGENE KILGROE

PELL CITY – Mr. Solomon “Sonny” Eugene Kilgroe, age 72, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in Birmingham, AL.
Mr. Kilgroe was retired from the Funeral Industry after serving St. Clair County for over 30 years, and was Past President of the Alabama Funeral Directors Association. He was a former Pell City Council member, a former member of the Pell City Chamber of Commerce, and a founding member of Lakeside Hospice. He was a lifelong member of the Pell City Country Club and a former member of Indian Bayou Country Club in Destin, Florida. Mr. Kilgroe attended First Baptist Church of Pell City where his grandfather, Solomon D. Kilgroe, was a founding member.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe W. and Josephine B. Kilgroe.
Surviving Mr. Kilgroe are his wife, Jane R. Kilgroe; nephews, Scotter Spradley, Buddy Spradley and William L. Phillips, III.
Mr. Kilgroe’s funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, 11 a.m., at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, AL. Bro. Doug Ford, Rev. A. L. Courtney, and Dr. John Thweatt officiated. Interment followed in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Reed Alexander, Rex Alexander, Charlie Robinson, Terry Wilson, Harry Charles McCoy, and Ross Whitten.
