Watch out for lane closures on I-59 this week

Pavement Rehabilitation Project on I-59 Continues, in Trussville

From the North end of Edwards Lake Road to just South of CR Rd 10 (Chalkville Mountain Road) 

 

TRUSSVILLE – Weather permitting, Monday, September 21 the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue a Pavement Rehabilitation Project on I-59 from the north end of Edwards Lake Road (Milepost 137.45) to just south of County Road 10 (Chalkville Mountain Road) (Milepost 140.02) as follows:

  • Monday, September 21, from 7 a.m. til 3 p.m., the northbound (inside) left lanes and 10 a.m. til 8 p.m. the northbound (outside) right lanes of I-59 from the north end of Edwards Lake Road (MP 137.45) to just south of CR 10 (Chalkville Mountain Road) (MP 140.02) will be closed for sawcutting, removal and concrete pavement rehabilitation.
  • Tuesday, September 22, beginning at 7 a.m. the northbound (outside) left lanes will be closed for removal and concrete pavement rehabilitation around the clock (with the exception of lane restricted times) until the work in the lane is completed.
  • The same scope of work will move to the southbound (inside/left) lane upon completion, approximately October 27.
  • Once the removal and concrete rehab has been completed in the southbound (inside/left lane), the same scope of work will be moved to the northbound (outside/right) lane until completion.

Concrete Grinding Schedule:

Southbound (inside/left lane) for the following shifts:

Monday, September 28 thru Wednesday, September 30, 10 a.m. til 10 p.m.

Southbound (outside/right lane) for the following shifts:

Thursday, October 1 thru Friday, October 2, 10 a.m. til 10 p.m.

Northbound (outside/right lane) for the following shifts:

Sunday October 4 thru Tuesday, October 6, 7 p.m. til 7 a.m.

Northbound (inside/left lane) for the following shifts:

Wednesday, October 7 thru Friday, October 9, 7 p.m. til 7 a.m.

This $3,680,940 project will consist of milling the existing asphalt, concrete pavement rehabilitation, joint sealing, concrete surface grinding, asphalt overlay and permanent striping. 

The project is estimated to be completed by November 2015.

            

Lane restrictions for this project will be as follows:

Northbound lane closures will not be allowed from 3 p.m. thru 7 p.m.

Southbound lane closures will not be allowed from 6 a.m. thru 10 a.m.

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
