A burst of offense from Piedmont in their home regional opener led to 350 yards of total offense and six touchdowns in the first half as the Ashville Bulldogs succumbed to their rival 62-21 this past Friday night.

Highlights:

Landon Cornutt (WR)

Reagan Wilson (WR)

Kenny Brady (RB/LB)

Hunter Huckaby (WR/S)

Kyle King (RB)

Ashville’s offense was completely stymied in the first half, with no offensive scores and a stifling Piedmont defense that prevented their opponent’s offense from penetrating the red zone until late in the game.

The one bright spot that came in the game for Ashville was the electric kickoff returns by Hunter Huckbay, who scored twice in returns of 83 and 84 yards for the Bulldogs.

Week 3 Preview: Weaver @ Ashville

Weaver has proven itself to be a high-octane football team with its thrashing last week of Pleasant Valley. In its first two regular season games, the Bearcats have accumulated more than 600 yards rushing, led by tailback Delo Forbes, who averaged more than 15 yards per carry last week in a 140-yard rushing performance. Weaver’s backfield is a three-headed monster with Forbes, fullback Giovanni Mosley and quarterback Paul Hubbard, who are all capable of breaking long runs out of the backfield.

Ashville must find a way to right their defensive ship after Piedmont. It will be a challenge against a Weaver team that can misdirect out of the backfield after every snap.
