Past meets future at Odenville Library

Technological advances are in the Odenville Library's future. 

Librarian Betty Corley is pleased to have the Odenville Library take a step towards a becoming a more futuristic and technologically advanced establishment, where the “Past Meets The Future!” Perhaps you have heard of the e-books that you check out and they are good for two weeks, then they disappear because they are returned.

Betty said, “I have been pondering ways to make the library’s resources more mobile-device accessible and was intrigued with the idea of using QR codes.”

As with all technology, it is important to understand what they can do and when they can help users. These QR codebooks enable you to take a picture of the cover with your QR code reader. They’re on your device, they’re always yours, and you never have to return them. The library gets to count the circulation every time you open and read it. If you’re traveling, and you don’t have a library card, you don’t have to check one out. Just scan the QR code.

Are you ready to access several free books?

Betty said, “We have books from easy children books up through young adults. Some of the young adult books will not be released until this fall, but they have been ordered, and they will also be QR code scan books. We don’t know of any other libraries that have this, it’s brand new!”
