2015 Hometown Block Party anticipates largest crowd in 16-year history

As you park your car, you can already hear the music. Soulful tunes echo from one street, and that familiar country twang drifts down another. The rich smell of smoked barbecue hits you and pulls you toward the crowd, where you find your friends and neighbors tapping their feet, tasting the local fare, shopping on side streets and – most importantly – downright enjoying themselves.

“Entertainment is basically what it’s all about on the surface,” said Lisa Gaither, Executive Director of the Greater Pell City Chamber of Commerce. “But overall, this event is a showcase of the many great things the Pell City area has to offer.”

This Saturday, June 6, 2015, more than 17,000 residents of communities near and far will come out to the Hometown Block Party in downtown Pell City, Ala. Now in its 16th year, the 2015 event promises to fill the streets around the St. Clair County Courthouse and the City Hall of Pell City with vibrant, exciting family-friendly fun like never before.

This year’s Hometown Block Party will be held from 5 p.m.-10 p.m., highlighted by four stages with live music and more than 120 vendors. The 2015 music lineup features local and regional acts and offers something for everyone as stages will ring with the sounds of Country, Rock, Motown and Inspirational songs. Along the sidewalks, concert-goers will peruse and purchase goods and services from throughout the region and taste an assortment of locally sourced and prepared foods.

“The Hometown Block Party is a way to display Pell City’s talented performers and thriving businesses both for the community that supports them day-in and day-out and those who might not be familiar with how impressive our residents truly are,” Gaither said. “We are so grateful we have the opportunity to host an event that not only captures the feelings of our hometown but also broadcasts the community’s successes to potential shoppers and investors.”

In addition to the music and vendors, the 2015 Hometown Block Party will feature additional attractions that will entice all ages. Stop by 20th Street for the Annual Block Party Car Show presented by Aultman Dental, or head down behind City Hall for the Kids’ Block presented by 94.1 The River. There will also be a Teen Block and Multi-Performance Stage on First Avenue, and a “Take Five” section in front of the Courthouse where partygoers can sit for a spell and soak up the atmosphere.

Admission is free to the public, and all are invited to join the fun. This weekend, come experience an event like no other in St. Clair County. For more information, contact the Greater Pell City Chamber of Commerce at (205) 338-3377 or go online to www.pellcitychamber.com.
