Next week, IndyCar Series fans will have a rare — and free — opportunity for a sneak peek at the field for this year’s season.

On March 16, Barber Motorsports Park will host the preseason Open Test, where teams participating in the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series season will take turns running the 2.38-mile course located just outside of Leeds. This year’s test will be open to the public and free of charge.

Following the Open Test, fans are invited to join Verizon IndyCar Series drivers at the Legacy Indy Fan Fest at Todd English Pub in Birmingham Uptown district. Legacy Community Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the event, which includes specials and prizes for fans that evening.

The Open Test and Fan Fest are being held to celebrate the beginning of the IndyCar Season, as well as in preparation for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama and Legacy Indy Lights 100.

On April 24-26, stars of the Verizon IndyCar Series will compete at Barber including Helio Castroneves, Marco Andretti, defending champion Ryan Hunter-Reay and more.

The three-day race weekend will feature activities for fans of all ages including a Ferris wheel, a kid zone for the younger fans, driver autograph sessions and more. Tickets start at $15 and kids 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult.
