State driver’s license fees increase

In anticipation of costly changes designed to improve the system, the State of Alabama increased prices on driver’s licenses last week. State officials said this increase was necessary as Alabama looks to upgrade its processing systems and add online renewals.

Class C licenses have increased from $23.50 to $36.25. Duplicates or replacements rose from $18.50 to $31.25, and the fee to obtain a CDL in Alabama increases from $53.50 to $66.25.
