Publix - Moody

Although the City of Moody has much to look forward to in 2015, Mayor Joe Lee said the arrival of Publix thrills him the most.

During his State of the City Address, presented last week to members of the Moody Chamber of Commerce, Lee said redevelopment of the Village at Moody retail center was the most-anticipated project this year.

Once complete, the center is projected to offer 45,600 square feet of retail space with Publix as its anchor tenant. Publix is slated to open its doors in fall 2015.

“This is going to bring 120 jobs to our city,” he said, which was followed by applause from the audience.

Lee announced other goals for the Moody community in 2015, including:

• Upgrading Highway 411 to better meet the growing demands of the city.

• Installing a traffic signal at High School Drive.

• Improving traffic control at Brompton Exit, with plans to widen the bridge and install new traffic signals.

• Plan for sewer updates to promote future commercial and residential growth.

• Promote Moody to become a destination place with new shopping and entertainment district.
