The price of oil has fallen by more than 40 percent since June, when it was $115 a barrel. It is now below $57.29, according to Live Trader News.

That has dropped gas prices around the country. Gas for less than $2 can be found in 13 states across the country. A little less than two weeks ago, there was only one gas station in the nation with prices that low. Oklahoma, Louisiana and Ohio show at least one station each selling regular gas for less than $1.90 a gallon, according to CNN.com

At this time last year, the national average was $3.27 for a gallon of gas. It reached $3.68 in June. The nationwide average is now $2.55 a gallon, the lowest it has been since October 2009, according to AAA.

The affect of the dropping prices can not only be seen in the amount of gas customers purchase, but also in their attitudes.

“As the pricing goes down, I don’t see people shopping (for the cheapest price) as much as they do when it’s going up,” Kevin Beyer, who owns Performance Fuels, told MSN Money. “They are still feeling a relief at the pump. People are more friendly.”
