An Ohio man accused of hacking the online accounts of more than 250 women will not be coming home for Christmas.

Instead, Stephen B. Mislich — who had been living in Bowling Green, Ohio, when indicted by a federal grand jury this fall — will be spending the holidays in federal detention after a judge this week denied his request to be released on bond.

A federal grand jury indicted Mislich, 23, in October on two counts each of extortion and harassment. He is accused of targeting more than 250 women by gaining access to their e-mail and Facebook accounts, gaining access to nude photos, then telling them he would post those pictures in a public domain if they didn’t send him more nude pictures.

Authorities said that in some cases the pictures were shared with thousands.

U.S. District Court Judge Staci Yandle denied a defense motion to modify the conditions of Mislich’s release and make him eligible for bond.

Mislich will be held in federal detention pending a pre-trial conference scheduled for Jan. 22 and a jury trial date of Feb. 9.

Mislich’s parents declined comment on Thursday.
