Two local restaurants are vying to be named the best purveyor of ribeye steaks in Alabama as part of a contest sponsored by the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association.

Even Odds in Cropwell and The Choppin Block Butcher Shop in Springville are among 106 restaurants throughout the state who have been nominated to participate in the third annual event.

Patrons are encouraged to visit www.alabamasbeststeak.com to vote for their favorite ribeye steak-serving restaurant, with the field being narrowed to a “Sizzling 16” bracket challenge beginning Saturday.  The bracket challenge ends Aug. 17, when all but four restaurants have been eliminated.

A panel of judges will visit each of the final four contestants to judge their ribeyes on juiciness, tenderness, and overall flavor.

Even Odds and The Chopping Block are the only two St. Clair County restaurants currently nominated for the Alabama’s Best Steak award.
