Springville Splash Pad now charging for entry

As of July 15, there is now a $1 per person admission charge to enter the Springville Splash Pad.

This charge applies to all individuals over the age of 3. All individuals who pay to enter will receive a wristband before entering. The wristband will designate that an admission payment was made, and every individual must have a wristband or will be asked to leave. Only dollar bills will be accepted at the splash pad, and no change will be provided.

The splash pad is also available now for rent in two-hour increments for $500 or can be rented for four-hour increments for $750.

Under Springville’s new policy, pavilion rates remain unchanged, but some rules have been added and can be found along with more information on the new policy at Springville’s website: http://www.springvillealabama.org.

The new charge for accesses, according to Mayor William Isley, was implemented because of the cost of running the splash pad. Isley said that the employment for the splash pad as well as maintenance, new equipment and chemicals costs Springville a great amount of money. “We never intended for the facility to be a facility that would be free forever,” said Isley. With the new admission fee, the city will have a much easier time running the splash pad, and will be able to keep the facility open to those who enjoy it so much.
