The St. Clair County Democrats established two nursing scholarships recently at Jefferson State Community College, in the name of Marjorie Miller Rooney, R.N., for both the 2014 fall semester and the 2015 spring semester. These scholarships will be written in the amount of $500, each.
The scholarships will help fill the need for qualified nurses and provide St. Clair County residents opportunities to acquire education and training for a meaningful career.
“We are excited about this opportunity to partner with Jefferson State and help deserving St. Clair County residents pursue their dream of becoming registered nurses,” said St. Clair Democratic Party Chairman Herb Kuntz. “These scholarships will be presented on the basis of need and can be used for books, equipment, fees and tuition. They are part of an ongoing initiative to engage with our community in worthwhile endeavors that reflect our mission and principles.”
To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must be residents of St. Clair County and be accepted into the Jefferson State nursing program.
These scholarships will be awarded with emphasis on the financial need of the student. To apply for the scholarships, contact Dr. Cristy Daffron at Jefferson State 205) 812-2722.
