Tommy Wilson, raised in Memphis, TN but now a resident in Moody recently had a track come out on the top 40 Indie Nashville Radio List.
Wilson was raised in Memphis until his early twenties. During that time in Memphis he started singing at local country music shows and eventually performed at a local amusement park. Once he was ready to make his move to Nashville he soon found himself making good musical contacts with the security services he was providing to some of the country music stars.
Over the years, Wilson has won several local and national talent shows that were either on TV or on radio. He has also opened shows for several country stars such as Steve Warnier, Mark Collie, Little Texas and the late Dottie West just to name a few. He currently has a CD out titled “Love At Second Glance,” which came out just last week on the top 40 Indie Nashville Radio List. The CD stands at number 33 and is climbing.
Wilson will be in the studio again late this summer recording again for his next CD project. He has a nine-piece band, and with each new show he and the TW band are gaining more and more fans.
Why Moody? Wilson came to Moody in 2005. He originally came to moody to be an EMS dispatcher. He retired a few years ago, and is now working on his music full time.
Why country is his genre of choice: “I’ve been singing country music since I was in my teens,” said Wilson.  He said that the person who really inspired him was Elvis. “He inspired me to go into the music field, especially with his country tunes.”
How would you describe your musical style? Wilson said it is a mixture of his original music in addition to covering some older country tunes. “I cover a wide variety of songs in country music,” said Wilson. He said that his sound is similar to hit country star, Alan Jackson.
How do you put your albums together? Wilson said that he chooses from several different songwriters who then help him decide on songs. “It takes me quite a while,” said Wilson.
