Mr. and Miss Leeds Middle School

Vying for the honor of being crowned Mr. and Miss Leeds Middle School (LMS) 25 contestants competed for the title.
Dr. Jason Baker introduced the night’s emcee former Miss Alabama, Wendy McDougal.
“It’s my distinct pleasure to be here,” said Baker. “At Leeds Middle School we strive to provide our students with the best possible education by encouraging extracurricular events (like this one) and emphasize academics. Tonight will not be an easy task for our judges.”
Holding the title of Miss Alabama 1991, Wendy now has two children (daughter, Maryanne and son, Madden) and has been married to her husband Tom for 20 years.
Connecting with the Leeds community, Wendy recently fulfilled a goal, as she became a part of the Scream Team at ATROX Factory this past Halloween season.
“I’ve always loved Leeds,” Wendy said. “It’s great being in this beautiful community.”
The Leeds Elementary School (LES) Jump Rope Team sponsored this year’s Mr. & Miss LMS 2014 and also provided entertainment before the winners were announced.
As Wendy announced each contestant’s name she also included some fun facts about each student.
Starting with fifth grade Ramsey Blair took center stage.
Ramsey likes to shop, spend time with her family, read and sing in her room.
The next fifth grade contestant was Kayden Knowles who enjoys creative writing and drawing.
Next up was Jordan Lawley. Jordan wants to be a teacher when she grows up and can’t wait for her 13th birthday because her grandparents promised to take her to New York City.
McKenzie St. John took the stage next.
McKenzie wants to be an actress when she grows up and loves playing softball, camping and going to the lake.
Miss Photogenic for 5th Grade was Ramsey Blair and Kayden Knowles was crowned Miss 5th Grade.
As the sixth graders took the stage Jordan Gough was the first on stage.
Jordan trains in karate and on January 30th will test for her orange belt.
Next to stand in the spotlight was Camren Falletta.
Camren loves playing with her dog, Deuce, and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.
Taylor Dawkins also wants to pursue veterinarian medicine as her career, but right now she loves playing softball, volleyball and being a cheerleader.
Sticking with the sixth grade contestants, Emilee Roberts was next in the spotlight.
Emilee loves playing the piano, learning new songs and helping out in her community.
Karlee Moses’ favorite subjects are math and science. When she’s not doing one of her most favorite things, playing in the Leeds Greenwave marching band, she’s reading or playing with her dog.
Shelby Saunier shoots bows and arrows and enjoys baking. Auburn is home to her favorite mascot—Aubie.
Riley Patterson plans to attend Auburn University in 2020.
One of her favorite things to do is spending time with her 9-month-old baby brother Grant because she loves watching him grow.
Cassidee Williams enjoys cooking, reading and playing softball.
Zaeli Crocker loves reading so much that last year she read three million words. When Zaeli grows up she wants to be a child psychologist.
Davalyn Walker has a twin sister and wants to pursue a career in fashion design.
Miss Photogenic for the 6th Grade went to Zaeli Crocker as did the title of Miss 6th Grade.
The seventh grade contestants were Shelby Truitt, Emmy Beason and Lily Bartee.
Shelby wants to major in Pre-Med and her favorite quote is, “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain!”
Emmy plays JV volleyball, likes hanging out with her friends and playing the piano.
Lily is in the National Junior Honor Society and the president of Family Career & Community Leaders of America.
Miss Photogenic for the 7th Grade was Lily Bartee and Emmy Beason was crowned Miss 7th Grade.
The eighth graders taking part in the Mr. and Miss LMS contestant were Allyson Henson, Cassie Crocker, Felicity Kirk, Haley Powers, Sidney Harding, Hannah DeShazo, Zach Roberts and Sam Purkey.
Allyson has been an LMS cheerleader for two years and this year serves as the captain. Currently on the LHS varsity softball team, she said she’d love to play softball in college as well.
Felicity love snow skiing and shooting archery as a member of the LMS archery team.
Haley has an all “A” average is on the varsity track team and enjoys playing the violin. She wants to attend the University of Central Florida.
Sidney plays the clarinet in advanced band, loves going to Camp Sumatanga and hopes to one day be a camp counselor there.
