- Coach Tamimu proudly shows off his very first giveaway win from the 12 Days of Giveaway Contest.
Honoring those who give to the children in the Leeds community, area businesses donated gifts for the Leeds City Schools (LCS) 12 Days of Giveaways contest.
Enticing all teachers, administrators, faculty, staff, central office members (in other words the whole team) to sign up, the LCS family had the chance to win one gift from the 12 Days of Giveaways event.
Up for grabs were $25 Visa gift cards donated by Bubba Ingram; a $25 gift card to The Outlet Shops of Grand River; a $25 gift certificate to Gigi’s Boutique compliments of Magic City Title; four tickets for UAB basketball as the Blazers take on UTEP in January; a Chick-Fil-A prize pack complete with the gift that keeps on giving—a calendar full of coupons and a scrumptious half dozen of their chocolate chip cookies; a Leeds monogrammed tote courtesy of L.A. Salon & Boutique along with Dorothy’s Design House (across from the Post Office in Leeds); the Leeds Arts Council for giving the gift of theatre; The Monkey’s Uncle Christmas Shoppe keepsake ornament and a free meal at The Wing Café.
The winners were: Karen Williams, Secretary/Bookkeeper at Leeds Middle School (LMS), Jessica Spitzer, third grade teacher at Leeds Elementary School (LES), Autumn Smith, Girls Physical Education teacher at LMS, eighth grade social studies teacher Angie Morefield, Leeds High School (LHS) math teacher and head basketball coach Zeinu Tamimu (or Coach T as he’s called), LMS receptionist Denise Miller, LMS band director Adam Truesdale, LES special education teacher Christina Arriagada, LHS English teacher Mandy Beason, LES first grade teacher Cassie Pulliam, LMS fifth and sixth grade counselor Amy Martin and Angela Walker in the LHS career technical education department.
Walker was the recipient of the Winter Wonderland Grand Prize Package which included a $50 Visa gift card (thanks again to Bubba Ingram), a meal from The Wing Café and a customized Christmas prize pack complete with one of her favorite items—something in her favorite colors of orange and blue, Auburn décor.
The LCS 12 Days of Giveaways winners were so excited, especially Coach T who said in all his years he’d never won anything and Walker who was notified by a student that she’d won.
“I was walking to my office and a student stopped me in the hallway and said, ‘Congratulations you won the grand prize.’ I replied, ‘The Grand River?’ So I checked my email and found out. It’s really exciting and I want to say thank you.”
Spitzer wrote on the Leeds City Schools’ Facebook page, “Thank you L.A. Boutique! I love my Leeds bag.”
Beason echoed her sentiment and posted, “Sending a big thank you to the Leeds Arts Council for my wonderful gift! Merry Christmas!”
And LCS superintendent John J. Moore extended his gratitude to all who contributed to the contest saying, “Thank you to all our local businesses for your support!”
Excited to give back to those who give so much to our children and community, LCS looks forward to making next year’s 12 Days of Giveaways bigger and better.
From everyone at LCS, they hope you enjoy the magic of Christmas!
