A downtown doorstep brought out the pumpkins and spider webs for the 4th Friday Halloween celebration.

Last Friday’s 4th Friday was turned into a spooktacular event celebrating Halloween. Spider webs came out, and trick-or-treaters roamed around downtown stores for sweet treats.
The event had live entertainment as usual, featuring Peter Boyle & Sunset Rising; Ryan Olard & Bluegrass Group; Hayden Tumlin & Jones Willingham; Mt. Pisgah Pickers; and Becky Coney. There was also a Zumba performance and a performance by the Pell City Line Dancers.
The streets were lined with face painting and pumpkin carving as friends shopped throughout the downtown stores. The event also included giveaways and a costume contest as spectators enjoyed delicious food from vendors along the street.
The Halloween-themed 4th Friday was sponsored by the Southern Cultural Arts Foundation. This fun group brought blank Halloween murals for children to paint. They also provided sidewalk chalk so that the young artists could decorate all corners of Downtown Pell City.
Erica Grieve, executive director of the Pell City Chamber of Commerce, was happy with the night and the amount of people who were there. “It was amazing how many children came out in the cold weather,” said Grieve. “The downtown businesses really enjoyed passing out candy.” “We hope everyone comes out to celebrate Christmas with us at the last 4th Friday!”
