Veterans and friends visited Leeds, “The Red Barn” on Monday to experience equine therapy. The veterans were part of the Military Assistance Support Personnel (M.A.P.S), an organization supporting veterans who have returned to civilian living.
Equine therapy is a type of psychotherapy that promotes emotional growth through interaction with horses. This experience was perfect for veterans because adjusting back into civilian lifestyle can be difficult at times. But the experience is great for anyone who is looking for a relaxing, good time.
M.A.P.S’ veterans started out their day on Monday with a drum circle. The drum circle had a combination of drums around the world. The veterans got to make their own beats and rhythms. They also got to make arts and crafts. Then they finished out their day with the horses.
