Ashville High School Senior, Ashley Cartier’s death was confirmed by the St. Clair County coroner and Ashville Police Chief Dennis Matthews this morning after a car accident with a stopped school bus.

Cartier, age 17, ran her car into the back of a stopped bus and went underneath. The bus was stopped to alow a bus aide to pick up a child, according to Matthews.  The incident occured at 6:54 this morning between the Springville and Ashville areas. However, there were no injuries other than the fatality.

There will be grief counselors available at the high school today, and whether today’s pep-rally will be canceled or not is unknown.
