- Miss Leeds Area 2013, now newly crowned Miss Alabama, 2014 Chandler Champion and Miss Leeds Area Outstanding Teen 2013 Brooklyn Holt are honored with proclamations presented by State Rep. Dickie Drake for their exemplary service to the Leeds area during their reigns.
Networking was on the minds of the Leeds business community at the Leeds Chamber of Commerce’s June luncheon.

Leeds Jane Culbreth Library director, Mondretta Williams reminded parents that Tot Time at the library is the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 10 a.m.
And that adult craft classes as well as quilting are offered at the library.

Leeds City Schools’ superintendent John J. Moore addressed the issue of a line of mobile classrooms located outside of Leeds Elementary.
Preparing for construction on a new Pre-kindergarten to second grade school, the current elementary school has been experiencing growing pains.
Once construction begins it is projected to be a 12 to 14 month process.
“The city is working together with us. It’s a great feeling,” said Moore. “The plan has legs and we’re moving.”
Dickie Drake, member of the Alabama House of Representatives serving District 45 (Leeds and St. Clair County) presented former Miss Leeds Area 2013 Chandler Champion and Miss Leeds Outstanding Teen 2013 Brooklyn Holt with proclamations for their outstanding service to not only the Leeds area but also the great state of Alabama.
The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) hosts its monthly luncheon every third Thursday of the month at 11:45 a.m. at the Leeds United Methodist Church Family Life Center located at 1189 6th Street in Leeds.
The business community and people familiar and new to Leeds are encouraged to attend.
