With a number of soothing methods in use at the facility on Martin Street in Pell City, Dr. Danny Hancock said going to the chiropractor shouldn’t be something people need be afraid of.
“You don’t actually have to have the snapping and the cracking,” explained Dr. Hancock. “That’s why we’re trained chiropractors. It’s a very safe, innovative treatment. And it covers all ages.”
Any pain syndrome that’s associated with the muscular-skeletal system—which can include any joint in the body—is what Hancock Chiropractic specializes in. Muscular-skeletal pain management in a relaxed atmosphere is the key to Dr. Hancock’s approach. Wellness care is also available. Three phases are used for therapies offered at Hancock Chiropractic: a manipulative component, a stretching component and following those up with therapy. “You can’t just do a simple adjustment and make the pain go away,” Dr. Hancock said.
After an initial assessment, Dr. Hancock can move on to a therapy that helps the patient’s needs.
“Mainly, people choose a chiropractor for some sort of pain in the neck or back region,” Dr. Hancock explained. “They also may have radicular pain like leg pain, foot, shoulder, arm or wrist pain; but it all associates from the spine; disk problems and pinched nerves and things of that aspect. You can also have some peripheral extremity pain in things like carpal tunnel.”
Hancock got his start working the past 10 years with his father, Dr. Steve Knighten in Rainbow City. “We focus mainly on the muscle-skeletal areas: disk problems, pulled muscles and associated symptoms.”
Methods used include a traditional, manual spinal manipulation or an instrument technique as well as flexion/ distraction and/or a Triton DTS Decompression system.
Spinal decompression is used to open up joints and take pressure off nerves and is good for back problems involving the disks. “You can use that on the neck as well as the back.”
Dr. Hancock has two certifications using those specific therapy techniques for patients.
Electrical muscle stimulation is also used at the office. Patients get to relax in a spa-like therapy room while that physiotherapy method is used. “We use electrical muscle stimulation, which increases blood flow to the area, which decreases inflammation and pain. And we use ultrasound, cold laser and short wave diathermy devices as well as ice and heat.”
Dr. Hancock wants people to know that his main focus is to get people back to work. “I’m just trying to provide a service to get people back to where they can work for their families and serve their community.”
