Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores broke ground February 21.

The Moody location off Exit 147 is the eighth location opening in Alabama.

Construction is projected to begin in August with a target opening date set for December 2013.

Open 24 hours, seven days a week, the Love’s in Moody will also house Subway and McDonald’s.

A gourmet coffee selection, travel items, gifts and a myriad of road trip snacks will be offered along with parking spaces for professional truck drivers.

Excited to have this state-of-the-art travel stop in Moody, Mayor Joe Lee looks forward to what this type of business will bring to his city and its neighboring areas.

“Having Love’s here should bring around 75 jobs to the area,” said Lee.

“This is a very well known and respected company,” said St. Clair County Commission chairman Stan Batemon. “We feel that the industry already on this corridor coupled with Love’s investment will only continue to breed new growth and revenue opportunities for the City of Moody.”

Established in 1964 by Tom Love, Love’s is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores currently has 290 locations and 160 truck tire care centers in 39 states.

Ranked nine on Forbes magazine’s annual listing of America’s largest privately owned companies, Love’s is eager to greet its new customers traveling through the Moody area.

“We’re proud to support local economies in the communities where we operate,” said Greg Love, president of Love’s Development Companies. “We look forward to serving our new customers in the area with the ‘clean places and friendly faces’ Love’s in known for.”

“The City of Moody has been great to work with,” said Love’s Real Estate Project Manager Bill Gleason. “We’re very happy with the results.”

Investing $7,000,000 in this facility, Lee feels honored about the investment Love’s Travel Center’s has made in Moody.

“We are glad to have found a new community partner and look forward to working with them in the coming years,” said Lee. “The City of Moody is excited about Love’s Travel Centers.”
