An advocate for local businesses, your area chamber of commerce is working for you.

Looking forward to things to come in the New Year, the Springville Area Chamber of Commerce held its first meeting of 2013.

Electing officers was the first order of business.

Scott Barnett of Massey, Stotser & Nichols, PC was elected president, while Jimmy Calvert kept his seat as vice president, Lisa Morgan remained recording secretary and Charlotte Matthews continues on as treasurer.

Board members are Betty Wisner and Brian Skinner, and city liaison is Wayne Walton.

As seen on the city’s website, www.springvillealabama.org, Mayor William “Butch” Isley understands the many ways the Springville chamber benefits the city.

“Our city is home to a thriving chamber of commerce that provides numerous opportunities for our businesses and citizens to become involved,” said Isley.

Excited about events for the first quarter of the New Year, the Springville chamber eagerly anticipates its annual Easter egg hunt.

“We ask each business who is a chamber member to donate 100 plastic eggs,” said Morgan.

Embarking on a fresh start to 2013 Calvert looks forward to brainstorming and coming up with new fundraising ideas while Barnett strives to increase membership and bring awareness to the chamber.

“My goal is to be able to help out in a way that benefits area businesses,” said Barnett.
