PROGRESS 20 Announces I-20 Rolling Roadblocks/Lane Closure Wednesday
Published 1:22 pm Tuesday, January 8, 2013
Work continues on Interstate 20 as part of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s project to widen the last four-lane segment of the roadway in St. Clair County.
Weather permitting, state troopers will conduct rolling roadblocks beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 9-10, on I-20 West between mile markers 148 and 149 in the outside lane to install a guardrail.
A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone.
Motorists are urged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits. This work is part of the ALDOT’s Progress 20 project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County.
The Progress 20 Web site and toll-free project update information line, along with posters, brochures and signage, are part of the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Progress on Alabama Roadways campaign to keep travelers informed of the progress being made to improve the state’s interstates. Additional ongoing projects include Progress 20 in Calhoun, Cleburne, and Talladega counties, Progress 59 in DeKalb and Etowah counties.
