Mack Butler was recently sworn in at the Ashville courthouse in St. Clair County to represent Alabama House District 30 after winning the vote in a special election held Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Holding the District 30 seat, Butler represents Etowah County and northern St. Clair County. In a close race, Butler beat Democrat Beth McGlaughn.

Butler replaces former District 30 representative, Blaine Galliher, who was recently appointed legislative director by Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley.

“I have big shoes to fill in my friend, Blaine Galliher,” Butler said.

Butler plans to waste no time in addressing the concerns of District 30 and determining needs.

“I plan to work on creating an environment that allows business to grow in this district, Butler said.  “I also plan to address the needs of getting students college and career ready.”

Butler served on the Etowah County School Board for the last 10 years.
