PCPD commends Officers Riley, Wathen

Sgt. McInnish commended two police officers for their professionalism in their work.

Officer Riley was called to Walmart in reference to possible shoplifters. There was no shoplifting at that time. Another call came out in reference to the same suspects who were leaving the store. A vehicle description was given. Officer Riley caught and stopped the vehicle at the red light at 231 and Little John. The driver had a suspended license. Personnel stated that the driver and the passenger of the vehicle were indeed the shoplifters. Personnel stated that the amount would be somewhere near or more than $1,000.00.

Both parties were arrested and the vehicle was towed incident to arrest. While searching the car for stolen items, Officer Riley found two notebooks that had item codes listed in them; the notebooks will be placed into evidence and warrants will be signed by Officer Riley and Walmart personnel.

Officer Riley was very professional and was quick on the call. This allowed for the arrests of potentially professional thieves. This also allowed for Officer Pitts to get good experience on felony shoplifting reports and arrests.

Officer Wathen took a missing person report. A husband stated that his wife was missing. Wathen investigated that call and found the wife was trying to avoid the husband, who was trying to use police to make contact with her. Wathen put great effort into getting to the bottom of a bogus report. In the end the husband was told that if his wife, who was of legal age, did not want to talk to him, he would need to leave him alone.
