A Leeds teacher and coach has resigned after facing a charge of improper behavior with a student.

The Leeds Board of Education accepted Curtis Lloyd’s resignation with a 4-1 vote during a called meeting this week.  Lloyd, 32, was a phsyical education teacher at Leeds Elementary School and served as the high school’s varsity wrestling coach.

He is charged with a misdemeanor count of having sex with a student younger than age 19 for allegedly sending sexually-explicit text messages to a femal student.  Officials said that the investigation remains open, but there is no evidence that Lloyd had physical contact with the student.  He remains free on bond.

Board member Greg Dawkins voted against accepting Lloyd’s resignation.  He asked that the teacher be terminated and banned from all school property.
