Six of St. Clair County’s eight football teams came away with wins last Friday, with the same number taking to road for Week 4. Only Ragland and Leeds host home games this week.
Pell City scored its second region win of the season, defeating Grissom 21-17 in the Panthers’ home opener. The Leeds Green Wave also opened at home last Friday, edging past Midfield 7-6 in overtime. It was Leeds’ first win against the Patriots since the mid-1970s.
Moody’s Blue Devils also won a one point-decision, holding off region opponent Hayden 14-13 to improve to 2-1. St. Clair’s Fighting Saints are also 2-1 going into this week’s game, after a resounding 30-16 defeat of Douglas.
The Ragland Purple Devils outpaced Gaylesville 34-11, remaining undefeated, and Ashville’s Bulldogs improved to 2-1 with a region win against Cleveland. The Bulldogs visit Saks Friday for what coach Mark O’Bryant called a key game for his team this year. “If we can come away with a win Friday, we’ll be in a pretty good position,” he said.
The Springville Tigers dropped to 1-2 last week with a 28-13 loss to Center Point, and Victory Christian’s Lions remain winless after a 73-0 loss to region powerhouse Walter Wellborn.
