There will be fireworks in Moody this weekend

During Monday’s Moody city council meeting, the council approved to host the Labor Day fireworks show this Saturday, September 15 at 8 p.m. at Moody City Park.
The fireworks have been postponed twice due to weather.
Departmental Reports:
* Moody Chief of Police Bobby Breed reported for the month of August the police department received 942 calls, made 32 arrests, issued one warning citation, worked 52 misdemeanor cases, closed 33 misdemeanor cases, worked 33 felony cases and closed 24 felony cases.
Total miles driven for the Moody police department during the month of August were 16,452.
* Moody Fire Chief Joe Nobles reported a total of 114 responses for the month of August with a year-to-date of 1,049 and a monthly average of 131.
Average response time was 7.41 minutes.
Percentage of calls answered in less than four minutes was 32.4%. Percentage in less than eight minutes was 73.7.
* Doris Stanley Memorial Library Director Patsy Spradley announced the total of items circulated were 2,647 for the month of August.
The library welcomed 67 new members and saw 1,532 patrons in August.
Tax dollars at work:
* Approved Wayne Taylor over Public Works to purchase a set of new tires for car 314 for a total of $402.
* Approved request for $1,300 contract with Local Government Corporation Library Web Hosting and Maintenance for October 2012 through September 2013.
Also, approved the software support for business license, permits and accounts payable in the amount of $8,720 for the library.
* Approved Chief Nobles $1,385 to pay Tri-County Heating and Air to repair the air conditioning at the fire department.
* Chief Breed was given the go ahead to purchase a Brother Thermal Pocket-Jet Printer for patrol vehicle use in the amount of $379.88.
