Argo announces election candidates

On Wednesday the City of Argo announced individuals who qualified to run in the Aug. 28 municipal election.
Two individuals have already been appointed to Council Place 1 and Council Place 4 because they would otherwise be running unopposed. Betty Bradley has been appointed to Council Place 1 and current councilman Herschel Phillips was appointed to Council Place 4.
Paul D. Jennings and Hudson Harris are running for mayor; George Howell, Scott M. Como and Rex Howard for Council Place 2; Jeff Fore, Steve Medori and W.D. (Bill Rutledge, Jr. Council Place 3; William L. (Bill) Leake and Ann Brown for Council Place 5.
In other actions at Wednesday’s regular meeting, the council:
—Approved paying annual dues to the Regional Planning Commission in the amount of $2,463.
—Approved paying annual dues to the Alabama League of Municipalities for legal services in the amount of $1,799.61.
—Appointed the city clerk, Andrea Jennings to serve as the municipal election official and absentee election manager for the Aug. 28 election.
