At Monday night’s city council meeting, Pell City councilman Greg Gossett announced his resignation.
“When I ran for office, I was running for District One, but I’ve always worked to represent the entire city,” Gossett said.
Gossett says he chose to resign before the end of his elected term because he is seeking other employment.
“I’ve considered this prayed about it and asked for input from the public,” Gossett told the council.
Members of the council congratulated Gossett and thanked him for his service.
“The last three years and eight months have been an educational process for me,” councilman Donnie Guinn said. “He’s been one of my sounding boards.”
“He’s been a blessing to me and a blessing to this city,” Mayor Hereford said.
“I’ve had fun and learned a lot,” Gossett said. “I’ve been the people’s councilman from day one.”
The city sent an announcment Wednesday about applicants for the open Street Superintendent position; Gossett and four others were listed as applicants.
Councilman Donnie Guinn also announced he will not seek re-election for the next term.
