- Father and Son, Frank and Frankie Carpenetti share a laugh as they prepare meals for the masses throughout Moody and its neighboring areas
Hypnotic aromas and décor that creates the feel as if you’re eating at a true Italian piazza is right here in St. Clair County at —Carpenetti’s.
A Moody based business since 1997, this family owned and ran restaurant is celebrating 15 years of serving its St. Clair County customers.
After moving from Carthage, New York in 1993, patriarch Frank Carpenetti went from being a shop superintendent to being his own boss.
Hailing from an area known for its large hand-tossed foldable slices, Frank set out to make something tasty not only for customers, but for his family.
“We couldn’t find any good pizza around here,” Frank said.
Providing his own solution to his pizza shortage problem, Frank says what keeps Carpenetti’s going strong in today’s economy where so many other businesses are closing is—quality.
“We serve great food and give great service,” said Frank.
Not only is Carpenetti’s a family friendly eatery, Frank and his wife of 36 years, Tammy, also work with their son Frankie and daughter-in-law April.
Working so closely with the family is what the Carpenetti’s consider to be the best thing about owning their own business.
Known for crowd pleasers such as their lasagna, manicotti, calzones and of course pizza, Carpenetti’s has been voted one of the top three pizzerias in seven counties out of 472 competitors.
Another must-have on the menu is their dine-in only 38” pizza, which Frank says slightly, eases over the edges of one of their four top tables.
“All our vendors say we make the largest pizza in the South,” Frank said.
For those with a sweet tooth they also serve vanilla or chocolate cannolis as an after dinner treat.
Delivering as far out as the Odenville Piggly Wiggly all the way to Trussville Country Club and Southern Trace in Leeds, Carpenetti’s is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Carpenetti’s first location was where Golden Gate II currently resides, then they moved to Fine Pool’s current location before relocating to its permit spot at 740 Park Avenue.
“We’ve been here the last four years,” Frank said. “For us it’s better visibility and close to the ball park.”
Proximity to the ball fields is something near and dear to the Carpenetti’s hearts since they sponsor a team each year.
Taking their dedication to community service to the next level, this past fall Carpenetti’s hosted a car show to benefit The Miracle League. This afforded the Carpenetti’s the opportunity to present The Miracle League with a donation for $2,700 brought in by the car show.
Another slice of quality service you’ll discover at Carpenetti’s is their consistent health rating. Proud of what they’ve accomplished Frank displays Carpenetti’s 100 health rating near the front counter for their customers to see.
“We serve fresh homemade food. We don’t and won’t cut corners. We use the best ingredients because our customers deserve quality,” Frank said.
Descending from a north central Italian town called Carpineti, the Carthage, New York Carpenetti’s now Moody, Ashville and Anniston, Alabama Carpenetti’s look forward to breaking bread with you.
“We want to thank everyone for their support through the years,” said Frank. “We look forward to being a part of this community for years to come.”
