Flirty feminine with a hint of edge is not only how many might describe a spring day, that’s how style guru Lilliana Vazquez characterizes her personal style.

With 10 years experience in the fashion industry, Vazquez recently stopped by The Outlet Shops of Grand River to pull some must have looks for spring.

When shopping for a spring wardrobe, Vazquez says to keep in mind classic pieces.

“Regardless of the season, you need to have three staples in your closet. Pieces like a white jean, blazer or great maxi dress,” said Vazquez.

As for her own look, Vazquez likes pairing masculine statement pieces with structured volume clothes.

“I like to call it pretty feminine with an edge.”

For young girls trying to establish their own style, Vazquez suggests emulating a celebrity they like.

“Take a cue from magazines or the blogs. If you like Selena Gomez, make what you like about her style your own,” said Vazquez. “It’s like you’ve got a free stylist.”

A stylist and on-air host/personality, Vazquez has worked hard to get to where she’s at and now enjoys providing her expertise on such television shows as Today, The Revolution and New York Life.

Getting her start at W Magazine, she quickly learned what she did not want to do.

“It was very much my devil wears Prada moment,” said Vazquez.

Believing fashion should be accessible for everyone and all body types, Vazquez made her way as a style expert and on-air host to convey a message that all ages, budgets and sizes can experience glamour.

For those looking to break into the fashion industry, Vazquez says it’s important for people to pay their dues and build their resumes.

“Fashion is a massive multi-billion dollar industry. There are more jobs than just editors, designers and stylists,” said Vazquez. “It’s important to be a strong communicator and learn the skill set.”

Emphasizing the importance of creating your own blog Vazquez says it’s another tool to set yourself apart from the pack.

“Having your own blog highlights your point of view, taste and shows who you are,” said Vazquez.

Able to see her hard work pay off, Vazquez shares another of her greatest accomplishments—finding a great deal.

“I love a yard sale and a flea market. It’s about hunting for the deal. I’m an equal opportunity shopper,” said Vazquez. “I will shop anywhere for anything, anytime.”

Encouraging shoppers to spring into savings this season at The Outlet Shops of Grand River, Vazquez says it’s all about finding a look with the perfect fit for both you and your personality.

“It’s all about shopping smart and strategically.”
